After the success of our first year with PlayPass, Smoked & Uncut are back for round two with Wristband Payments. So we want to make sure you are all prepped and ready for quicker payments and faster queues before the festi-fun!

Once you have purchased your ticket, we will be in touch via email in spring 2021 with instructions on how to set up your Personal Account. But if you want to give yourself a heads up, here is a little more info about Wristband Payments at Smoked & Uncut...

Getting started

What are Wristband Payments?

In 2019 we introduced PlayPass Cashless Wristband Payments, where you load money onto your RFID Wristbands (Radio Frequency Identification… if you were wondering!) and use them to pay for your food and drinks. Your Wristband is given to you when you arrive at your chosen Smoked & Uncut festival.


What do I need to do?

Step 1) After purchasing your Smoked & Uncut ticket, register your PlayPass Personal Account for the specific festival you’re attending

We will be in touch closer to your festival date in spring 2021 with instructions and a link to your Personal Account

Step 2) Link your ticket barcode number to your Personal Account

Step 3) Load up your money

If you are attending more than one Smoked & Uncut festival you will need to create a separate Personal Account for each festival. 


Why use a Wristband Payment System?

SAFER - for everyone, including you! Using Wristband Payments eliminates the risk of losing or having money stolen.

FASTER – your drinks will be poured and tummy will get filled much more quickly when we simply tap your band at the bars and food stalls. 

EASIER – this means for our staff and traders we avoid using floats, avoid any risk of missing money and it means our team can concentrate more on pouring drinks and serving snacks than counting coins or drinks tokens!


Losing your Wristband won’t be like losing your wallet. If your Wristband goes walkies just simply tell one of our Top Up Station staff. They will then cancel your old one immediately and you will be re-issued a new Wristband with the remaining balance on your lost one.

Before the festival

Do I need to use Wristband Payments?

Yes. None of the Food Stalls or Bars will accept cash, so the more Wristband-ready you are, the better! Your Wristband will automatically activate a Personal Account when your Entrance Ticket is scanned on the day, however, we HIGHLY advise setting up a Personal Account prior to partying for the festival you are attending.


Why set up a Personal Account before?

So you can focus more on garden-grooving, and less on the boring bits. Setting up a Personal Account before means you can pre-load your Wristband with cash, get free money (you heard right!) with our pre-load bundles, set recurring top ups for the day and simply not worry about finding Top Up Stations when your tummy is rumbling.

Topping up with your Personal Account before the festival also means your unspent money will be automatically refunded - one less thing to think about! You are still able to claim back unspent money that you load onto your Wristband at Top Up Stalls on-site, however you will need to fill in an online manual refund form the following Friday after the festival has finished - no brainer right?!


Will it work?

The PlayPass Wristband Payment System is highly secure. It doesn’t require Wi-Fi to work and syncs up to Food Stalls and Bars across the whole site. PlayPass are technology leaders in Wristband Payments, with their systems being used across countless festivals all over the world.



Do all stalls take Wristband Payments?

There will be a handful of stalls in our marketplace with independent traders that will be ONLY accepting cash or card (not Wristbands), but all Food Stalls and Bars, as well as Pop Up Feasting Tents, will be cashless. This also means no cash machines on-site.


Do Feasting Tents take Wristband Payments?

If we have room at the tables on the day, Feasting tickets will be available to be purchased using your Wristband on the day. Once you're sat down and ready to dig in, you can use your Wristband to pay for a drink… or two.


Can I top up with cash or cards at the festival?

If you want to top up your Wristband on-site you can visit our Top Up Station, or do this through your Personal Account on your mobile device. Our Top Up Stations take both cash and card. Though if you want to spend more time dancing and less time worrying about topping up, you can pre-load your Personal Account before you arrive at the festival. You can top up any amount on the day.

Remember if you top up on-site at the Top Up Station, these funds will not get automatically refunded and you will need to fill out a manual refund form to claim this money back. Please see below details of refunds if you top up both in your Personal Account and on-site.


What about refunds?

Automatic refunds - if you topped up through your Personal Account:

To make the experience even more user-friendly, if you register an online ersonal Account, you will now be able to receive a fully automatic refund of any money you don't spend at the festival, with no fees! This service will refund you directly back to your money or debit card. Once you've set up your account, you don't need to do anything further to activate your refund - it will happen all by itself as if by magic.

Automatic refunds will be initiated 48 hours after the event and you can expect to receive funds between 3-5 working days, depending on your bank. Requested refunds will be available within 48 hours after the event and you can expect to receive funds between 3-5 working days, depending on your bank.

Manual refunds - if you topped up at a Top Up Station:

If you topped up at a Top Up Station at Smoked & Uncut with cash or card, you will need to fill out a manual refund form to get this money refunded. We will be in touch on the Friday after the festival to remind you to manually refund your funds.
In order to claim your refund made through Top Up Stations, you must keep your Wristband.


Please note that you are responsible for providing Smoked & Uncut the correct information.

Manual refunds will be eligible to be processed within a selected timeframe which will be confirmed in spring 2021.


I topped up both in my Personal Account and at a Top Up Station - how do I claim my refunds?

If your unspent money is less than the amount you topped up in your Personal Account you will receive a refund automatically to the card you used (excluding free amounts from bundles). If the balance exceeds the amount you initially topped up, you will have to fill out the refund request form as detailed above.


Will there be a transaction fee?

There will be no transaction fee charged for claiming your refund, both from your Personal Account and from Top Up Stations.

3) Set your Auto Top Up.

This way you won’t have to waste any valuable eating and drinking time queuing at Top Up Stations and your money will be auto refunded!
